South Africa: Plane Crashes In East London Airport

Small aircraft crashes at the Ben Schoeman Airport in  East London, South Africa this morning, critically injuring five people, the provincial health department said.

Spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo said: “Eastern Cape health emergency services are rushing to East London airport where a small aircraft has crashed, critically injuring two adults, and three children have also sustained injuries in the crash.” “One female was flown by helicopter to hospital, one male was taken by ambulance.”“It’s not yet clear what caused the crash,” he added. Police are at the scene investigating.
